Who is our Director?
We are led by Zachary Kampler, an accomplished conductor, composer, music director and trombonist with credits ranging from local school productions to Broadway musicals. He makes sure every rehearsal is engaging and purposeful.

Where do you perform?
Our main venue is Binney Park in Old Greenwich. We also march in parades in the Greenwich area, and perform at various ceremonies in front of the Greenwich Town Hall and public parks throughout Fairfield County.

Can I volunteer or help behind the scenes?

How can I support the band?
You can donate, attend concerts, share our events, or become a volunteer — every contribution helps sustain our mission.

What kind of music do you play?
Our repertoire includes marches, pop arrangements, movie and Broadway themes, jazz, and classical favorites — chosen to engage both players and audiences.

Do you collaborate with other local arts groups?
Yes! We partner with local schools and organizations for our marches.

Are performances accessible for people with disabilities?
All of our performances are at public venues, mostly parks. For specific accommodation requirements, please refer to each location’s website. Our concert locations are listed on our calendar page.

How can I stay updated on events and news?

For Prospective Musicians

Do I need to audition to join the band?
No audition is required for musicians high school-aged and above — we welcome musicians of all skill levels who are passionate about community music-making. Parents of Middle school-aged players, please contact webmaster@soundbeachband.org for audition information.

What instruments do you accept?
We are a traditional concert band, and accept woodwinds, brass, percussion, and occasionally strings — just bring your instrument and enthusiasm!

When and where do you rehearse?
Rehearsals are held weekly at a local venue in Old Greenwich, CT — exact times and locations are shared with registered members.

Are there membership dues?
No! We are 100% free-to-play!

If i do not play and instrument, can I still volunteer or help behind the scenes?
Absolutely! We welcome volunteers for event coordination, marketing, logistics, and more — no musical experience needed.

Is the band open to all ages?
Yes! We welcome ages! Players younger than high-school age will have to audition before being allowed to play, but all others are welcome to simply walk in and play.

What kind of music do you play?

Are you beginner-friendly?
We welcome all players who can perform at a basic high school level or advanced middle school level. If you are unsure of your abilities, our more seasoned players will be able to help you along as needed.

Can I attend a rehearsal as a guest before joining?
Yes — guests are welcome to observe or sit in once to experience the band. Just make sure to email us ahead of time.

How do I sign up to join?
Visit our “Contact” page or send out an e-mail to webmaster@soundbeachband.org and we will begin your on-boarding.

Are there any professional musicians in the group?
All members of the band volunteer their time to play with us, but several of our members are active or retired professional musicians. They help elevate the quality of each performance, and serve as guides to the less experienced members.

How will I be informed of band updates?
Once you become a member, you will be added to our members-only newsletter, which outlines detailed rehearsal and performance information.

What is the dress code for performances?
For most events we wear a white polo with the band logo, and black trousers, socks and shoes. Most detailed information is provided in the members-only newsletter.
